My favorite treat at the Charleston Market Pavilion is this fresh-squeezed lemonade. Nothing is as perfect on a humid day. I love to serve at barbecues over vodka.

CHARLESTON MARKET LEMONADE

Serves 4

Simple Syrup:

1 cup unrefined organic cane sugar

1 cup water

Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan. Stir over medium heat until fully dissolved and begins to bubble. 

 

Lemonade:

1 cup simple syrup 

1 cup fresh-squeezed organic lemon juice

2 cups water

Combine all ingredients and adjust to taste (if serving over vodka, keep a little more tart). Serve over ice.
